ABOUT ME

I am a landscape photographer based in the Leeds, England, UK. I have grown up with a love for nature, taking images on my phone since my childhood. I have recently picked up a professional camera to capture and further appreciate the natural beauty of my landscapes.

Secondly, I am currently exploring different areas of photography broadening my perspective in the creative world of photography using extensive camera equipment. From interest in topics such as night and contemporary photography, through my portfolio, I show my range of topics that have had significance throughout my life.

Some photographers that inspire my photography include Simon Roberts and Lauren ​Henkins. Simon Roberts’ in his We English series of photographs, expresses landscapes by taking the images from a distance to show everything as it is in the scene. 'We English' explores the themes of identity, memory, and belonging. Ordinary people are captured engaged in diverse pastimes, which presents a populace whose profound attachment to its local environment and homeland makes for a distinct examination of nationhood (Roberts, 2019).

In Henkin’s 'The Park' series, her monochrome images focus on the architecture surrounding New York’s Central Park. Similarly,  Henkin focuses on parks and the behaviours when humans are surrounded by it. Henkin uses monochrome landscapes however, to focus on the details. From her work, I believe that use of monochromes represent both nature and the city as one and that all of it comes together to make a landscape.​

In conclusion, both of these photographers explore landscape and human interaction which is what I resonate with throughout my work. Certain places give me a sense of identity and shapes my relationship with place for example in my 'Loss and Nostalgia project.
